6-day trip zanzibar
Day 1

Airport Zanzibar – Stone Town

Today you fly to Zanzibar on your own where your 6-day trip Zanzibar starts. Upon arrival you will immediately notice why this is called a tropical island. You are surrounded by heat …. and palm trees. You will be picked up by a taxi driver and taken to your hotel in Stone Town.

Stone Town is on the UNESCO World Heritage List. The houses are built of coral stone. In the 19th century, the Sultan of Oman decided to make Zanzibar the capital of his empire so that he could control the trade route. As a result, you will see many influences of Oman in the city and many old palaces from this period are on the coastline. But the large trade in herbs and ivory, among other things, also caused people from all over the world to settle on this island. You will experience the influences of many parts of the world through the small streets of Stone Town, including the Arab, Indian, European and of course African. This mix of cultures makes Stone Town so fascinating.

Unfortunately Zanzibar was also an important place for the slavery trade that was in Africa. On the island and also in Stone Town there are a number of cellars to visit from this period. The doors in Stone Town are also famous. There are more than 500 wooden doors with the most beautiful decorations.

Depending on your arrival time, you can walk around the small streets or relax on a terrace at the beach, with your feet in the sand, enjoying a beautiful sunset.

You will be welcomed by us and all excursions will be discussed with you. We are also glad to help you with good tips for good restaurants. After this meet-and-greet you can walk around by yourself in the evening because everything is within walking distance.

Day 2

Stone Town

Stone Town and the surrounding area has so much to offer that actually one day here is too little.

If you want to get to know the city a bit better and want to hear a bit of history and culture, then a Stone Town tour is a must. You walk along with the local guide through the narrow alleys of Stone Town. At the same time you see the great influence of the early sultans of Oman. But you also get a glimpse into the daily life of the Swahili people. For example, you visit the local colorful market. You will also hear how the slave trade has influenced the development of Stone Town.

A top excursion is Safari Blue where you visit two snorkeling places with a Dhow boat. You also go to a beautiful bay with mangrove forests. The barbecue lunch with many kinds of fish and fruit is enjoyed on an island where you also have time to relax. There you can visit, among other things, two old baobab trees. Sometimes dolphins are spotted. At the end of the afternoon you sail back to the starting point.

The traditional Mrembo Spa is a unique place to learn more about the Swahili culture during one of the treatments. The shop is already a reason to go here. They sell products that are all locally made.

We can also arrange an excursion for snorkeling at one of the best snorkeling spots in Zanzibar or you can visit Prison Island to see the turtles. And of course we can organise a cooking class at Zanzibar. There are so many tours in Zanzibar that you can do.

Day 3

Stone Town – Matemwe

After your breakfast you will be picked up and you go to the Northeast of the island. On the way you will visit a Spice Farm that should not be missed when visiting Zanzibar. This island is not called the herbal island without a reason. During this excursion you will see how every day used herbs grow and which are processed medicinally. Of course, a cup of spice tea and some fruit can not be missed here.

Just before lunch you arrive at the hotel on the beach. You will be surprised how soft the sand is in Matemwe. This in combination with lots of coconut palm trees, and the beautiful colors of the sea, creates the heavenly feeling.

In the afternoon you can relax or swim in the sea (depending on the tide). And of course you can take a long walk on the beach.

Day 4 and 5

Matemwe

If you have always wanted to snorkel or dive, this is a good opportunity.

At the small island of Mnemba there is the marine reserve Mnemba Atoll which is the most beautiful place for snorkeling and diving. You will see the most fascinating fish swimming along a large reef.

Day 6

Matemwe – Airport Zanzibar

Unfortunately today it’s the last day of your 6-day trip Zanzibar. Depending on your flight time, you can visit Stone Town again. You will then be taken to the airport and you will look back on an unforgettable journey.

If you have less time we also can arrange a 4 days Zanzibar tour.

Kwaheri and Safari Njema.

Goodbye and wish you a good trip.
